Default Question on HP output with Hondata...

i went to the dyno on saturday and i was fairly happy with my numbers. they were using dynojet and i put down 173whp and 119.9torque. my question is, using hondata stage 3 and getting tuned at a reputable shop ie. importbuilders, what kinda numbers should i be seeing? close to 180whp? TIA for any answers.

Depends on your mods, etc. What all do you have done to your car that you would expect to get some gains from.

well i put down these numbers with, toda 4-2-1 header, 2.5" testpipe, 2.5" kakimoto exhaust, and a j's racing intake. i'm running really rich right now and was wondering how much the hondata setup could help me out.

Would depend on tuner and such. I do believe there is someone putting close to 190 down with stock R cams... Warren I believe.

Do you have a picture of your dyno plot? How spikey is your VTEC crossover? (If spikey at all.) (( I define spikey as a "noticeable" immediate increase in HP in your dyno plot.))

How spikey is your VTEC crossover?
..and the reason I asked this is, you may not gain much more "Peak" HP, although I don't see a reason why you "couldn't". Adjusting fuel accordingly as well as VTEC crossover could make a world of difference in your overall powerband, giving you more horsepower through the band, not necessarily a much higher "peak" number. Seeing +5 to +10HP across the board is much better then just +10 HP at, say, 8k RPM's. JMO though...

you are going to gain more in the midrange more than anything else. 180whp up top might be pushing it but hey anything is possible....TUNE, TUNE, TUNE

Warren has stock ecu.

00TypeR: You will most likely see a lot of gains in low-mid rpm range with minimal
gains up top

That's great great number with stock motor, ecu, and header only.
Steve must used some of his sercet formula when he overhauled the engine.

Not really. had to resurface the head, so it maybe went up a hair... <shrug>

Its a race car, so it doesnt have much of an exhaust.

I would think you would see a little gains and some midrange around VTEC cross over.

I dyno'd my R with an AEM, JDM 4-1, Stock Exhaust 00/01 ITR intake cam and made 178/125 on a dynojet

STOP YELLING!

where's that caps locked image when I need it?

Anyhow, open header will give you a lot more power than a "conventional" exhaust system

Coupled with a great rebuild it can give you some "free" hp. Spoon Sports crate motors are an example of this. They can give up to a few more hp over a stock 18C5. Little things add up.

I make almost 180whp/ 130torque with my car and it does that with AEM intake, stock ECU, stock catback, stock header and it breathes a bit easier via testpipe.

Ofcourse everybody is going to say that the dyno I went on was likely wack....and might as well say Warren's dyno place sucks poop too. Makes these things easier to explain....
