I have a 96 Honda Civic Hatchback DX that came with a stock automatic D16Y7 and I recently bought a manual JDM vtech D15B from an EG complete with transmission and shifter and engine harness. I planned on converting my automatic into a manual and my mechanic says I need a new engine harness for an EK VTECH MANUAL, I was talking to a friend and he said that the harness the D15B came with should be good. I don't know who is right, please help... I'm new to the honda game btw so if it's a stupid issue or problem forgive me lol.

 

You might be better off keepin the original 1.6 and just doing the trans swap.
It would be a good idea to get a harness from a 96 5speed.
The one on the JDM engine is from an eg and the plugs for injectors, distributor, and a few other things are different.

 

your mechanic is right, you wil need the vtec engine harness 5 speed ek

 

96-98 ex harness and ecu.

 

You can also use your auto harness and jus wire the vtec direct to the ecu. I think your going to have to do an iac plug conversion thouh
