Resurrected 1991 Si
Hi Honda-tech... longtime lurker, but new member.
I recently brought back to life a 1991 Civic Si hatch that had been parked outside in the Socal sun for several years. Engine is running great, and its driving well, but the exterior has been weathered pretty bad. The roof had been previously krylon painted black, but of course that is wearing off, and the rest of the red paint has faded to a pink.
Right now I'm just using this car as a beater around town car, but I would like to get the paint looking a little nicer.
What do you guys think I should do? Cheapo one day paint respray? DIY rattle can paint? Change the color to something else?
What say you Honda-tech?

If it's just a beater, you should sell it to me really cheap, since there's no such thing as a rust free 91 where I am :D
Anyway, If you're going to paint it, do it properly, don't just rattle can it.

I am a fellow ef lover like you guys... I drove this very car all through college, and loved it, but a couple years after I graduated I got a new '08 si to replace it.
I gave this one to a family member who used it for a little while, the distributor went out (among other problems) and they parked it.
When my wifes Saturn died last month, I decided I would fix this guy up to drive for a while and let her drive the '08.
I don't think there is enough value in it to warrant getting a real nice paintjob, so I was trying to determine if there is some intermediate option that would be in line with the value of the car, but still looks decent.
Maybe I should just go get a quote on a full respray.

My 1990 Hatch's paint looked just like yours. I got my car vinyl wrapped by someone who lives in my area, Northern California. He is starting out, so his prices are unbeatable. I think I paid around $700 for everything, sanding, installation, and materials. A year later, it still looks new and shiny and I couldn't be happier. Everyone I show the car to is surprised that it is not paint, but a vinyl sticker.
700 for vinyl which is a temp bandaid, vs a little more for a good paintjob that is factory like.
