Fiji Blue: Fading Paint Issues
Hi everyone,
I am currently driving a 07 Fiji Blue Civic Si (Sedan). The car is so clean and no accident history, but there is only one thing the most that is the roof paint is fading (clear coat as well) and it is getting worst every day. I have been working with San Francisco Honda, they offered a 50/50 option which means I would have to pay half of the total repair cost. This offer sounded good to me at first, but after their body shop gave me a estimate, I was shocked because it was going to be about $1900. Therefore, I would have to pay $800 for a new paint job only for the roof if I accepted the deal. As I have seen so many civics out there, I believe I am not the only guy having this issue and I believe it shouldn't be our responsibility to take care of this mess. So,
Here are what I want to do:
1) if your civic have the same problem with the same color (or any other colors), please leave a comment here. I want to show them this is a common issue that some of the civics are having.
2) if you live around the bay area, I believe we can meet up and go to SF Honda together. We need to show them this is their problem not US.
Two reasons to make me open this post:
1) One of the SF Honda managers said the roof has been repainted and he kept mentioning the whole repaint process wasn't done by a professor and this why the paint is fading. This is NOT true and they don't believe what I said
2) A district manager said the roof might have been hit by the garage door or anything. This is ALSO NOT true.
Thanks
KC.

Service Bulletin 12-049
Warranty Extension: Civic Hood Paint Cracking
BACKGROUND
On some 2006–10 Civics that are painted blue (paint
code B-529P) or black (paint codes B-92P and
NH-731P), the exterior paint on the hood and the
leading edge of the front fenders may crack. American
Honda is extending the warranty on the paint on the
hood and tops of the front fenders on affected vehicles
to 7 years from the original date of purchase with no
mileage limit.
If this extended warranty has already expired based on
the original date of purchase, American Honda is
further extending the warranty 6 months from the
mailing date of the notification letter. Do an iN VIN
status inquiry to see if the customer is eligible.
American Honda will update this bulletin and the iN VIN
status when this warranty extension on all early
production vehicles has expired.
This warranty extension only applies to factory-applied
paint.
The warranty extension does not apply to any vehicle
that has ever been declared a total loss or sold for
salvage by a financial institution or insurer, or has a
branded or similar title under any state’s law.
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
Owners of affected vehicles will receive a notification of
this warranty extension. An example of the customer
notification is included at the end of this service
bulletin.
Before doing work on a vehicle, verify its eligibility by
doing an iN VIN status inquiry.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Inspect the vehicle and, if necessary, repaint the hood
and the tops of both front fenders with an isocyanate
2-part color and clearcoat paint.
We've had ALOT of this come in lately, we have gotten most of the roofs covered as well even though the bulletin doesn't say anything about the roof. When we get the roof covered, we have the body shop inspect the roof making sure it's oem paint, if it is our service manager calls the DPSM to get the ok. Sounds like the dealership your going to is dicking you around and doesn't wish to help you.

I have an 07 Fiji sedan, I have already had the hood and front fenders repainted by my Honda dealer for the spider webbing under the clear coat, now they are getting authorization to repaint roof(fading horribly) and rear pillars(paint is flaking off in quarter sized pieces)
