I know this is a dumb question but what does it mean when a car has obd0 or obd1??????

What is it for?

smog?
chip?

Help me out im new to this stuff....

 

it's the generation of the computer inside, wich mean , a obd0 and a obd1 car don't have same harness, same sensor etc

 

OBD stands for on board diagnostics.

OBD0- pre 1992 cars
OBD1- 1992-1995
OBD2- 1996-up

It basically helps the driver or mechanic diagnos a problem with the car. If a sensor fails then the ecu produces an error code and either the driver or mechanic can figure out what is going on by reading the error code on the ecu.
