2001 Mats skyrocket in Price
FYI to the ITR community:
Just did a random search for a set of mats for my R and I discovered the price went up. Highest I've seen them was close to $400 and lowest was $289. I do have a brand new set that i paid $89.00 roughly two years ago from hondafloormats.com that I planned on using after I get my R back on the road, I don't know how I feel about that now. I sort of want to leave them in the box wrapped in the plastic, or at least buy another set to throw in the back of my closet.
Anyone who plans on holding on to their R for as long (plan on keeping the car forever) as I do plan on picking up a set or two before they reach a $1,000 or are discontinued?

I went to the dealer months ago llooking for a set and waas told they don't make them anymore and could not get them and they dont have any in the system to obtain.
Yeah- up until recently, you could buy them for $109 all day long from Acura dealers via eBay. Not sure what happened, but they suddenly tripled in price.
Try to get a set of the discountinued 98 spec bnib checkered one now LOL even more $$$ there is only few set around (private seller ) .The 2001 spec are getting up there in price few more year and they`re gonna be $$$!
don't feel too bad, the itr was discontinued in 01, the s2000 hardtops are out of production and unavailable and that was a much more recent car.

i bought a set for my '01 R back in '05 for about $80 when I first got it. The orginal set had a heel whole worn into it. It only took about a year before the new set did the same thing. $240 isn't worth it unless they redesigned and made them more durable. I bought a set for my em1 from honda and they are a lot better quality, they must have a better supplier for the civics. If you DD your R you're better off buying a set of weathertechs.

I know, I like my car to look clean always but Im not using my brand new checkered floormats or trunk mat for any kind of driving. Besides, the black weathertechs look nice for daily driving chores.

Ha!! Crazy. I bought a mint (might as well have been new) set for $40 a while back after my GF spilled a full cup of coffee all over my R. I gave away my old ones. Oh well.
Everything is going up, it's not that they use a special material on the ITR mats that cost more and their price reflects, it's a business tactic, but most of all it's greed.
you know the most durable ones i have ever used were the thick OEM civic EG mats. my dad bought a new EG in 1993, ran up 240k miles on it, i took them before it was sold, put them in the integra, ran 100k miles on them and they still were in good shape when i sold the teg
