EX Head on GX Short Block?
Tried a search, but couldn't find anything.
Are the two blocks the same, except for the pistons? Was looking to rebuild my engine, but was thinking about picking up a zero mile GX short block (for about the same price as my rebuild) and swapping out the D17A7 pistons to the lower 9.9:1 compression D17A2 ones. Would this work / any issues? Thanks.

Let me clarify my original post, hopefully that helps. I own an EX and want to use my A2 head on a A7 block, minus the pistons. Here's what I know:

To be fair, that's what Wikipedia knows.
All kidding aside, I do not know how the blocks differ technically, so I'm not certain if you can use the block at all or not.

Haha, thanks.
I pulled the trigger and purchased it. I did a part by part comparison for the two blocks. The only differences were:
1) Pistons (obviously)
2) Connecting Rods (beefier)
3) No Knock Sensor
Everything else was the same, part number-wise. Block, Crankshaft, Pins, Bolts, Oil Pan, etc. were identical. A few of the main bearings differed, but not a concern.
