Default Help with ls/vtec?

Hi, so im buying a 98 integra rs with a gsr head.
This is what he told me: "when the conversion the bottom end was kept stock and when the head was placed on I used brand new GSR head studs with the ls head gasket. Intake manifold camshaft, valve springs are all the ones that came with the head when I bought it. Pistons weren't change, rods weren't either. Cam gears were changed to skunk2 cam gears."

So i know that to make it a more "reliable motor its going to take a bit of work, i dont know much about this but i was thinking of putting in some gsr or maybe itr pistons? Then slowly putting in other maybe gsr parts, gaskets, block girdle, intake mani, cams, valvesprings , etc for higher compression?
In order of importance, which parts will i need to change first and which ones are more crucial? Would it be mich of a problem driving the car aroud like this for a while, i wont be doing any racing or many pulls on it.

Please dont flame me if i sound like an idiot for not knowing about this
