What Engine Should I Replace in This CRV?
After purchasing a house I my garage has become the shop for my friends.
Anyways my friends cousin blew up her 1998 CRV 5speed 4wd (Cylinder number 2 has a huge hole in the side with the rod sticking out the exhaust side) His aunt gave him the car to do as he wished. We are thinking of swapping in a new motor. I was looking at Hmotorsonline to possibly purchase a replacement.
They only list B20 motors obviously not US model it seems. There's three different models they list.
$ 549.00 96-98 Spec
$ 650.00 96-98 P8R Spec
$ 750.00 99-00 Spec
I don't care which one we get the are all relatively close in price. I was wondering first of all which one should we get to have the least amount of headache in swapping? Also is there anything special we'd need to do when swapping in a JDM motor (ecu flash or anything of that nature)?
We aren't trying to trick this out we aren't trying to do anything fancy, we are merely trying to get this CRV back on the road and treat it right. We don't want to have some overly built horsepower annoying piece beater out there we want a car that we could use for a while and possibly sell down the road.
Thanks guys.
