hey guys so yea im kind of a noob but i was just curious is it actually bad to give your car a hiding once in a while?

i have a 96 accord vti-s and i treat it like a baby majority of the time but sometimes i just like to smash the accelerator fully down and take off, sometimes when im already moving or sometimes from a complete stop at the lights.

the car obviously revs up really high but i try to never hit the redline. i have 196000kms on my engine and i was just wondering is it actually bad to do this once in a while?

 

No. It's actually GOOD to do that once in a while. Breaks up carbon deposits and can keep rings from getting stuck.

Whats that, ~120K miles? Maybe start worrying if the engine is making noise and the mileage is double. Like 92 civic ex 4dr said an Italian tuneup from time to time is good for the engine.
