Default Cooling fan issue?

Started working on my 91 LX. Changed t-stat, car hasn't run hot. The cooling fan (passenger side) seems to come on only after I shut the car off. Then it runs a LONG time. It will also come on with a cold engine and just turning the key on for a second. Any ideas?

Also, the engine side of the t-stat housing gets really hot while the lower hose barely gets warm. No bubbles in radiator and I'm stuck like chuck on the next move.

I am also experiencing the weird fan thing with my 91 EX. I turn off my engine and my fan still runs, until I open my door, thats when it stops. And in the morning, its hella cold and it turns on when I turn the key to the ON position but without starting the engine.

I checked my relays and it is definitely not it. Otherwise, the fan would not be working at all. A friend of mine guessed that someone (previous owner or mechanic) bypassed some wiring to keep the fan on so that the car doesnt overheat. Thats why when a few days ago, I posted on my overheating thread, I mentioned that there was nothing left of my thermostat, which was why my engine got hella hot quick.

I would check the wiring. Was your ride previously owned?

Mine used to do that every time I turned the key to On, and then off (obviously when I stopped my car after using it as well). When I replaced my leaky radiator hoses and topped off the coolant it went away...

Check the timer. It suppose to run the fan when the engine is hot after shut of from a drive and only for 10 minutes and no more. If the timer is bad the fan keeps running.
