Default 90 civic dx hatch dies at half tank...someone please help me!

i have searched everything to find the answer to my problem. i read the thread about the pump sock and i ordered it. i dont get it for another 4 days so in the meantime i was observing my fuel pump and sock and i noticed that the sock thats on it has the mounting tab facing the right. now the sock i ordered has the mounting tab facing the left..now my question is how did the sock i have on order (part number fs121) fix everyones problem with their car dying at a half a tank when the mounting tab is on the wrong side? how did they get it to mount? i am stumped here and i guarantee the new sock is not going to work. could it be that my pump is different or what? please someone help me out here. thanks

Maybe you are out of gas and your gas gauge is wrong. How many gallons of gas can you put back in your car when it dies?

From looking at google images of a civic gas pump & sock I can't see how that would cause the problem you are having.

That is a good pict of the pump and the sock. How would the sock position effect it not getting gas at half a tank? I could see if it was so mangled no gas could get through maybe the last 1/8 of tank. I would think at 1/2 tank the pump should still be submerged.

What car did that pump come out of? My sock looks nothing like that...there is a write up on here somewhere that talks about the sock on our civics being wrong when you have to buy a new one...it says that the sock they sell you is not long enough and when you come to a stop or go down a hill the gas shifts forward and then the car dies...that's what my car is doing after a fuel pump and sock replacement ...it says you have to order the sock that's for the 88 crx dx in order for it to work...Part number is fs121.... the sock on it now is part number fs127...and its not working right...I ordered the fs121 sock and I get it Friday but I was looking and the little mounting tab for it is on the left side...my sock I have on now has the tab on the right...if that sock has fixed tge problem with other people then they must all have had a different pump than mine...look up the part numbers and you will see the difference in the socks...I can't get the images posted on here...please let me know what you think...

ok, i feel pretty dumb right now........after looking over many pictures on google and frying my brain it finally donned on me that part number fs121 is in fact the correct sock to order to correct the problem i have been having like everyone else...the reason that little mounting tab is on the opposite (left) side is because when you mount it to your pump it should get that sock turned so its facing forward like it needs to be....i will post again after i get the part on friday and test my theory...thanks so much for trying to help me.....stay tuned....

UPDATE!! part number fs121 did in fact fix the problem...i installed it and the car fired right up without adding any gas to the tank...this is the true fix!
