Default Question after Seafoming

I Seafoamed my 91 LX and when I started it back to clear it out, "smoke" came from around the headers. The heat shield is still on so I'm not sure exactly where it's coming from; but the front of the engine. Problem? If so, how big?

Well, likely an exhaust leak, since that's where the exhaust comes out...

That's what I figured, but since I can't see the header, I wasn't sure if there was something else I should look for.

Check your seals or gaskets. One of them may be done for or incorrectly placed, causing a leak.

Exhaust leaks cause you to burn more fuel than usual and it can foul your oxygen sensor and catalytic converter. Take the heat shield off so you can get a better look. You should fix the leak asap.

If its smoking from that area you could have a crack in your exhaust manifold. I did, that's the main reason I upgraded to headers.

I had smoke coming from the exact same area after SF (seafoam) and when I eventually took the manifold off it was cracked in not one but 2 spots! Then when I took the cyl. head off I found it had 2 burnt exhaust valves. I think that the cracks in the manifold are what caused "hot spots" and burnt the valves, what do you think?

Here's a picture of mine, I can't remember what runner cracked either 1 or 4. I just replaced them with headers and it was a done deal. But OP, if you go this direction don't get cheap eBay ones. That's a quick easy way out, but they're horrible quality. If this is even your issue.
