Default boosted eg civic - white smoke and running lean

hey everyone, im new to this site! if you could help me out, I recently bought a civic d16z6 turbo, it has vitara pistions and eagles rods, precision .48 turbo. everything seems ok, it holds boost turbo has shaft play, needs rebuild. I was wondering, why it smokes so bad out of the exhaust? (white smoke) never had a turbo car so don't really no where to start, I recently pulled manifold off,( needs all new gaskets) I was gonna start by repairing the head gasket, ? any input helps to pin point where the smoke is coming from, ideas on where let me know thanks,

White smoke usually means that coolant is burning in the cylinders. This often indicates a blown head gasket.

Does it smell sweet?
Does the cooling system build pressure?

Replace the head gasket only after first verifying the head is flat within spec. If not, mill flat or replace.

and yes it smells kinda oily and sweet, also seems like the top of the radiator and the cap has an oily substance in it, so im leaning more at the head gasket..

thanks, also i have been told to get a wideband gauge instead of narrow band, whats it really do besides just a o2 sensor? my gauge says im running lean most of the time, i just wanna pin point the problem on everything and not have any more problems,

The wide band sensor is much more accurate than the regular O2 sensor.

Lot's of possible causes for running lean, so you'll need to give more information.

Have you measured the fuel pressure?

it is a d16z6, vitara pistons, 8;5;1 pistons, eagle rods, 450cc injectors, comp cam zex 59300. walboro 255 fuel pump and more, i did a compression test and numbers where 135.130.125.125 across cold then warmed up and it was -5.-5.-10.-5 across from the numbers given is that normal for the 8;5;1 pistons?
and fuel pressure im not sure on, i was gonna run my aeromotive fpr. it has a gauge on the fuel filter?
