Default New guy's first V-tec Eg Civic D16Z6

Hi all!,

My name is Nathan but call me Roger

I just drove my first Eg Civic home last night from previous owner and im very excited to get working on this car to tidy her up!.

I will post some pictures up hopefully tonight of her but she is a super clean shell re-sprayed in white.

Since im a Newbie to Honda's and their D16 series engines, I was first shocked to realise they Are actually a 16v!

but with it having V-tec I know they run on oil pressure to activate V-tec etc,
She also has a stage 2 crower camshaft in her, very hard to notice v-tec crossover but I have realised I can fit a L.E.D light to check the solenoid works properly so that is 1 thing of many on my to-do list.

She has not been mapped and chipped aswell so would it be recommended to straight away get her chipped/mapped to suit the camshaft that has been fitted?
plus a little oil smokey on v-tec?

if any guys could give me tips on what to look for/or clean out on this D16Z6 engine that would be helpful!, she is a beautiful shell and just needs interior (dash and doorcards + carpet) refitting and heaters also engine love and I will be even MORE happier with her .

thanks

Roger

With the cam it NEEDS to be tuned
Smokey in vtec is gonna be valve stem seals or piston rings...do a compression and leak down test

I have a EJ but i also have a D16 and even tho its a D series its still fun!

I really enjoy working on my car and try my best to fix any problems my self

My Vtec soilenoid was unplugged and it gave me a CEL so if you don't have a CEL it might be working. I can't hear the Vtec kick in. But I can sorta feel it. and know it's kicking in if my rpms go up faster once i hit around 5k
