Power steering pumps...oem/non oem
I got a little noise in my ps pump and I hate noises from my car...especially upon start up it squeals, and I hate hate hate that (belt is brand new gates)
anyhow Im shopping online, and want to replace it, This would be my 2nd pump. First one went bad around 145k, and I replaced it with a junker oem, and that lasted til 190k.
So, do I
1) get another OEM junkyard special (they are like 40 bucks...)
2) buy a OEM honda via ebay...I see them for $100
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-OEM-53...2c9f01&vxp=mtr
3) Buy a fenco via advance auto for $175
The only other option is majestic wants $350 for a OEM unit. I don't know if the ebay oem unit is b.s. ---it states OEM Honda part, not oem style or anything, but I don't like that its a 1/3 the price, that makes me nervous.
Anyhow anyone got any insight? I am leaning towards a junkyard unit (as long as its a oem unit I am changing it to) I got like 4-5 years out of the last junker...and the ps pump aint hard to change---I can swap them in 15 mins in the parking lot...but I also like having piece of mind of good quality parts.
anyone here running anything other then OEM? How long?
anyone purchased a ebay "oem" honda unit? experiences?

First I'd try a different belt: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/%5Bfaq%5D-your-guide-buying-quality-aftermarket-maintenance-parts-your-civic-3114911/

i was under the impression gates made the t-belts....and just assumed they made the other belts also.
Ill change it and see

I read his feedback 98% good sign I also read the reviews for that item and they where all good with item exactly as described
Yep I would go with that if you do end up buying one.

Yeah, sounds like the Gates accessory belts make that squealing noise you're talking about. It might not be your pump that's a problem; it's the belt. BANDO is the OEM mfr. Well, at least for 92-95 Civics.

noise is there....changed belt...noise is there.....removed belt...noise went away
and like I said before, Its a junkyard part that has about 50k on it..
Ive had a similar noise before that I changed the part and noise went away.

Time for you to rebuild it and create a DIY thread while you're at it.

Ron...post em up...I'll give it ago. I know a guy who rebuilds alternators, so btwn the two of us (more so him) I think I could probably get it done.
I was thinking...where the hell am I going to get these parts? lol.
Ill order 3,7,8 and give it a try. and do a write up.
I just looked it over...its like $30 shipped for every part....probably $20 without the bolts/nuts which Id just pick up at the hardware store and not pay $3 each for a 8mm bolt, lol.
Im going to buy em....and lets give this a try...most of the crap can't go bad---bolts/brackets, etc. Its probably the bearing like ron said and thats $9 bucks.
