I bought a 1991 CRX and it had 2 different VIN numbers. From what I can tell the VIN stamped in the engine bay is for a base model CRX, but the vin on the dash is for an SI. The 2 VIN's that I have are:
JHMED9364MS014068 - Dash
JHMED8354MS011494 - Engine Bay
Now my problem seems to be that I have an SI engine and an SI ECU, but the wire colors on the connectors to the ECU don't match those on an PM6 wiring diagram. Because of this I think that some of the wires are different and the engine is acting up because of it.

Any ideas or helpful wiring diagrams?

Did the car run at all when you got it or has it always run badly?

You need to use the same engine harness as the chassis but it may have been converted to MPFI from DPFI as the standard CRX came with.

 

your car vin is the one on the firewall. Someone changed the dash out. The door jamb sticker also could have been changed, but you go by the chassis VIN, which is STAMPED into the firewall, and it is not easily changed.....
what does your title say for VIN. We may be dealing in a stolen or car which could be confiscated by the POPO or improper vin, which is a felony. Not looking too good at this point.

 

registration is always a good start to look as well

 

chances are you bought a base crx that someone swapped a black si interior into and didnt swap the vin on the dash before putting it in. they also swapped the motor and did a mpfi conversion with whatever wire they had laying around.

You will have to trace the wires by hand and see where the injector wires actually go and the same for the resistor box.
