Post Starting Problem

About one week ago, I was running my errands in the morning and after that I went to class (School). Finish my class and was about to start up my car eventually the car wouldn't crank/start. Usually when the car doesn't start, I always check the battery. I know that my battery couldn't be the problem because I bought a brand new battery about 4 months back. Bought a different starter before installing i, I took the starter to get tested and it works just fine. Not a fuel or mechanical problem because i've performed a few tests for those scenarios already. I've tried push starting the car and the motor fires up! When I shut off the motor and try starting it again, the car just wouldn't crank/start.

Any ideas? solutions? Anything kind of information would be helpful.

What car and engine?

What voltage do you measure between the two battery posts?

So the no-start is caused by a no-crank problem, right?

If so, when you turn the key to ON(III), do you hear the starter solenoid click?

I own a 1994 Honda Civic Dx Coupe with a 1997 Acura Integra Ls motor.

I haven' measured the voltage between two battery posts but i know for a fact that my battery isn't the problem.

When I put the key in the igniton and try to start up the motor, the starter would make a constant clicking noise which I believe is the starter solenoid

Sure sounds like a dead battery.

How did you come to the conclusion that I have a dead battery?

have you tried getting a hammer and just lightly hitting the starter?, had starters do that in the past and I just give the starter housing a little whack and it starts turning the starter motor over.

Roger

Edit: I would recommend checking battery voltage though just incase your alternator has crapped itself! which would lead to a dead battery.

First off, I'm assuming its a manual. There are 2 potential problems which are easy to check.

1. If it is a manual, disconnect clutch safety switch and jump the two connectors on the plug end. If it starts there's your problem.

2. Disconnect the wire plug going into the starter solenoid and jump it to the battery while the ignition is in the on position. If it starts you have a bad ignition switch, its not sending any signal to your starter.
