Default My DIY intake

I bought a spectre universal intake online, it didn't line up right so I decided to spice things up a bit and modify it to fit. I bought a rubber 90 degree elbow coupler thing from menards, and some other things. I connected to elbow to the throttle body, and the spectre to the other end. It worked out pretty nicely, and is positioned well. I am just starting to work on my car and am a complete novice so any feedback, good or bad is appreciated. My only question and concern is there is no hose running to the vacuum line (I believe that is what its called but I have no idea. There is a picture in the album of what I am talking about). I had my friend step the the throttle to see how it sounded and I could hear it just sucking air in when he rev'd the engine. I know a tube is supposed to run from the intake to it, but is it ok if I have no tube running to it? Or should I cut a small slit in the rubber part and run a hose from it to the line. Thanks.
