Default Bolt ons....

Rebuilding my V, and I was wondering what kind of simple bolt ons I could add that would help get me a little more HP. I'm on a shoe string budget for the time being, and am just trying to get some suggestions as to what I could do to get a little more power out of my V. I'm open to any and alll suggestions. Thanks guys

Nothing! It will always be slow.

Only way to make a noticeable difference would be to bolt on a B16a/B18c head

I've been looking into swapping out the head, which one would you suggest? I am kind of wanting to make a sleeper V. I see you mentioned the B16a/B18c, are those vtec heads? I'm pretty green when it comes to hondas.

If going B20 Vtec all motor, without plans for boost. The GSR B18C1 head stamped P72 would be what you are looking for, however if plans of boost are in the future. I'd say the B16 head stamped PR3, would be the one for the job. Reason why, GSR head yield's a higher compression meaning more power in a N/A car. where as the PR3 head flows better, the compression ratio is lower.

Awesome info jdm bones, thanks. I will be boosting the motor in the future, so it looks like I need to find myself a B16 head. Now the fun will really begin. Does anyone have any suggestions as far as a cold air intake goes for the time being? I hate how cluttered my engine bay looks with the stock air breather system.

No problem, as for an intake system. Like it has already been mentioned, any intake system that works with a EK, or EM1 is good. If you live somewhere wet, i'd suggest to use a ram air intake. As cold air intakes my cause hydro locking your engine if it is to wet outside, this happened to me once on my integra. Not worth the pain, headache, and money coughed up. You will not see any gains in power either, it just sounds nice. My 2 cents.

Best bang for the buck is a set of used crower 402, 403, 404's cams, adjustable cam gears, then drop a set of higher compression pistons, arp studs, a set of 310cc or 370cc injectors, and a larger exhaust system then get tuned.

Used JRSC may go for around 1500 they are kinda rare for a non vtec b series.

Used crower cam's i see on the marketplace for like 200
Used adjustable cam gears around 100
Used but in good working condition piston set with rods might be around 500
New arp studs around 150
Used RC 310cc injectors around 150
exhaust system i can get done here around town for like under 200
Tuning around 250, for tuning and chipping then programming on chrome.

So as you can see there is no real cheap ways...

Another cool cheap way to add power is to find a GSR B18C1 long block, and swap that in, ecu, and harness, might run you at like $1500. More power and OEM reliable.

A lot of great ideas folks, keep 'em coming! P.S. I am looking into buying this upgraded pulley kit, does anyone know if it will fit my setup? Here's the link

so if i just bolt on a jackson racing supercharger on my stock 2000 crv will it hold up ? how much hp will it add ? will it remain reliable ? will i need more then just the supercharger ? what will it do fuel mileage wise ?

i am actually debating this

Not unless you do a vtec head swap and get it retuned. Add 1000$ to that price.

the only reason i dont want too turbo is becasue it seems so unreliable and it wont really help with fuel economy and stuff.....id like too turbo a non daily driver but yeah...just my opinion

Supercharger is more difficult as you cant intercool it so intake temps get really hot, which means detonation which means dead motor.

Turbo is easier in the long run and can be made very reliable if you do it right and dont cheap out

Cheap-Fast-Reliable

Pick two, you can never have all three
