94 Accord Hydraulic Clutch problems
Hello all,
Well here is my issue, hopefully someone out there can help me:
I have a 94 accord F22B1, with a manual transmission, as i stated in the title I am having problems with the hydraulic clutch. Recently the clutch pedal started sticking a bit and then dropping to the floor, I checked for leaks and found none, I decided to go out and get a new master cylinder and slave cylinder (I have been changing out old to new parts anyways). I do not have much time so I took it to a local (well known) transmission shop and and they told me I needed a new pressure plate and rear main seal in addition to the master and slave cylinder. I reluctantly said ok and they did it. When I picked up the car, the clutch pdeal was much lower than normal and after a day or so it kept stciking and then dropped again. I called them up and they sent a couple of guys over they found there was a small tear in the hydraulic hose and it would need to be replaced. Here is where it gets a little weird, as I watched them attempt to bleed the system, I saw in the rsevoir that small pieces of rubber were floating around, they simply said it was weird and moved in.
Now I ordered the part myself and installed it however, I have spent the better part of the afternoon attempting to bleed the system. It is simply not building up pressure.
As I pump the pedal I can see the fluid flowing slightly however I do not see very much fluid drainign in the resevoir.
Is there a way to "blow ou"t so to speak the lines to hpefully remove any blockages-that is the only solution I can come up with.....any ideas I would love to hear. Thanks

The rear main seal is what keeps the oil in the motor around the crankshaft, so I don't see how that has anything to do with the clutch. I have an SS braided clutch hose that is one piece from the master to the slave, removes the dampener and all the hardlines. When you go to pump the pedal are there any air bubbles coming up the res?
Thanks for the responses, yes, it has one large bubble that comes up every time, almost to the point that if I pump it to hard, the fluid actually pushes out of the res. and spills over.
Where did you get you braided line? I was actually getting ready today to pull all the lines off and try to clear them, it would make more sense to me to just replace all the hardlines and small hose as you did.
Thanks

I know for a fact the 5th gen's don't. I don't think the 4th gen's did either.
B & R fittings, they're awesome. I ordered the 4' cable for the Honda Prelude (identical master/slave cylinder) and they called me the next day saying they added an extra foot just to make sure it would work and I got it about two days later! Just make sure you tell them its for an Accord in the "buyer comments" section.

In the US, the 3rd gen Accords were the last of the cable clutches.
Be sure the hose from the res to the clutch master is sealing all the way.
You might also swap out the bleeder screw out for one of the "speed bleeder screws". This will make the process much easier. If not there are hand held vac pumps you can use.

Thanks for the info, I'm gonna replace the hose from the res to the master n I already have the braided line on order from B&R fittings, ill check on the speed bleeder screw also. Thanks for shedding some light on the cable vs hydraulic clutch. Based off the VIN my 94 was assembled in Japan and not the US.
