Honda Accord Type S not going into gear?
Hi there people,
I am Kay, from SW London. We own a Honda Accord Type S 2.4. We've had it for about 4 years without any problems. This is the 1st problem, car har covered 94,000 miles.
Basically all of a sudden in traffic I had problems selecting gears, plus the clutch felt 'softer'. I managed to drive home in 3rd as thats the only gear I managed to select easily. The next day I couldnt select any gear & when I did try it made the griding noise. If i turn the car off I can select gears perfectly fine apart from 5th. If i turn the car off and put it in gear with the clutch down & then start it, the car jumps forward abit?
There hast been any clutch slip at all. I inspected for any leaks in the bay but nothing. The clutch fluid looks full but very black?. I looked behind the clutch pedal & I can see a little residue of oil, looks like its coming from the master cylinder?
So far i personally think the master cylinder is shot, but not 100%. I came accross this site & thought I'd ask for help/opinions
Many thanks
PS: Completely stock car

I am agreeing with the above, the clutch sounds buggered. However, the black fluid worries me. I would replace the clutch master and flush out the fluid too. HTH
either the CLUTCH master cylinder or CLUTCH slave cylinder is failing and has leaked out fluid and allowed air in. the clutch itself is almost 100% likely to be perfectly fine.
