Default Anyone install small square race car style door mirrors on their 01-05?

My best friend is planning on installing those small square race car style door mirrors on his 05 LX. It appears that he will need to make a mounting plate with which the mirrors will install near their OEM location.

Has anyone ever mounted the small race car style door mirrors to their car? What can be done as far as a mounting plate is concerned?

An example of the mirrors are below....

unless they came with a fitted mounting plate, you have to get some custom fabrication done, im sure.

Yeah, I am sure he will have to do some custom fab work. I was hoping for an easier solution. I looked for over an hour tonight online, and couldn't find anything for 01-05. You can buy 92-00 mirror delete plates, but nothing like that for 01-05.

My friend bought some sheets of carbon fiber, but I am skeptical as to how easy carbon fiber will be to work with without getting a ghetto looking outcome....

Anyone have any ideas or hints?
Thanks

I am the friend Lightsped mentions. To be honest I don't feel like this will be hard at all. APR even has directions on how to fit their universal version of these mirrors (which is what I have) using a custom mounting plate. Their guide basically tells you how to make the mounting plate using a small sheet of carbon fiber.

When I did my research on working with carbon sheets, a dremel or something similar was recomended for best results when cutting it. I plan to use a high-temp silicone sealant to make sure there is a good waterproof seal where the mounting plate meets the door. Might make a guide for this too, as I wasn't able to find much info for installing these mirrors.

I will be doing this on my EM2 sometime soon. But doesn't help you much. I am planing on custom molding CF to make a decent looking mounting plate instead of a flat store bought sheet.

If my mounts look bad when I'm done, I'm going to try that. Was watching some videos on youtube and it doesn't look hard, just time consuming because you have a wait an hour or so to let the epoxy set before adding another layer.
