Default Alpine SPS-610 6 1/2" fronts in 2000 EX sedan

I have a question about front speakers in my 2000 EX sedan. I know I have to cut out some of the plastic so the new 6 1/2" speaker will fit, but by looking at the speakers I have, it seems I have to cut an aweful lot out. I am not sure the covers will snap back on.

These are the speakers I got: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Alpine+-...-610&cp=1&lp=1

Does anyone have experience with these specific speakers? Or if there is another 6 1/2" speaker that will fit better, I would appreciate some info.

Thanks, Pudsky

You only have to remove the baskets where the speaker mounts. Nothing more. You should be NO WHERE near where the speaker covers snap back in.You may also have to get adapter rings to endure a professional install. It will pull the speaker out of the door somewhat to gain you some clearance.

I will get back to trying to install these speakers hopefully sometime this week.
Is there anyone who has installed these specific speakers?

Ok, so I finally got around to finishing the install of these speakers. I did cut out the basket behind where the speaker gets mounted, but I also had to cout out around the edge of the speaker too. The factory speakers were 6 1/4", and the replacement speakers are 6 1/2". A little more trimming, and they are not direct fit, but they do fit eventually. Nice and solid too, no rattling around. I am going to get something to protect the speaker from any water also, just not in yet.
