question about fuel pump power connector
Ok so I put my new fuel pump in today but when I was taking the old 1 out I noticed some kind of creamy white stuff in the connectors. The 1 that disconnects had it in it and the 1 it connects to had it on the prongs. Is it suppose to be like that or are they bad?
If it was only on the connector inside? then it was most likely a dielectric grease of some sort. Did the terminals show any sign of corrosion on them when you look into the connector? Dielectric grease is usually a clear color grease but as it dries up it becomes a whitish... if the car has been around road salt that tends to dry the grease up quicker I've noticed too.....

I have 1 more question. The filther that came with the pump is a little smaller than the old one and it has about a 90 degree elbow tilting it very slightly upward while the original 1 pretty much pointed straight down into the tank and was a little bigger/longer. I don't have enough money to buy a new filter atm do you think the one that came with the new pump will work for now?
If it helps any the difference in depth is about a half inch in other words the hole inside the new filter is about a half inch higher than what the old 1 was.
heres a picture below sorry this is so long but this is the last thing I need to know.
I think itll work fine for you. I dont think you will lose much if any volume from your tank. If anything it might help to not pickup direct from bottom of tank(dirt always down there). This could have been a problem that was addressed and why it now has a elbow. Nota big deal.
