Default 2.5in. exhaust

hello im putting a straight pipe exhaust on my car and was wandering if 2.5 inch tubing would be too big on a stock engine? a local exhaust shop was saying 3 inch tubing would be standard but the stock pipe looks like 2 inch if that. so my question is what size would you use? thanks

This is true, as you lose a bit of torque when you do increase the diameter of the pipes. The actual stock diameter of stock pipes is 1.75", unless you have a V6, of course.

Im going to suggests test pipe over a straight pipe. 70mm exhaust or 3 inch if thats all you can get prepare for lower gas mileage.

Good luck getting pulled over. I drove ONE mile straight piped, from the high school metal lab to the local iron works to have my new Megan muffler welded on to my 2.5" piping. I was "disturbing" the peace, I went and explaned what was going on and he let me go of course.
