forgot how i knoticed it for the first time but if i sitting in neutral or just whith the clutch pushed in and i push the brake pedal it raises my idle a little. but then if i hit them like 5 times in a row it will raise the idle each time to about a max of about 6-800 rpm.

is this a problem? what the heck would be causing this?

 

Is it raising your idle BY 600-800 rpms or is it moving it from lets say(A lower idle like 400 and when you push the brakes it's moving it up to 600-800?) Because under 600 rpms is ridiculously low you should be idling at like 1,000-1,500

 

Should be idling at 650-700

 

Depending on how high it raises... it is totally normal.

To the best of my knowledge.... when you pump your breaks repeatedly it uses vacuum from the booster of which originates from the intake manifold. It briefly increases the RPMS to compensate for the use of the vaccuum. (Basically to increase the airflow to the motor)

 

SHOULD be idling at 1,000-1200. 650 is really low. Look at your RPM's when your car is running it SHOULD not be that low while idling once warmed up

Oops posted too soon. I'm not sure where you are getting your info from, but at normal running temp no car that I'm aware of should idle at 1,000 let alone 1,200. That's ******* insane. It's incredibly too high. 700 is around normal. I don't know the exact idle Rpm but i do know not 1,000

It is January and still cold, if you are idling at 600-700 in THE COLD you must live in the desert lol. I don't know a damn car that idles under 800 in the COLD.

 

Once the car warms up, ambient temps don't matter for idle speeds. I'm assuming we're talking about the idle speed after the car warms up.

 

Yes that's what I'm referring to. If that's what perfection is referring to then i misunderstood him. I've the vehicle warms up like you said jbpnoman, the ambient air temp has nothing to do with the idle

I live in the northwest...been 20 degrees every morning. B16b still idles at 700 rpms on the dot...

 

The car may idle around that when first cranked and cold but never when warmed up no matter where you live
