Wagon Questions:)
I will most likely be getting a 1990 Civic wagon in a week or so and just had some general questions. It's FWD and a 5speed with 260k miles on her
Any way I was mainly wonder if the springs/shocks from other civics will fit, maybe find some springs off a 99-00 Si or something cheap. Also is a ZC swap as easy in the wagon as it is the the other hatchbacks? I searched and read all the relavent posts. Should be a fun project/ beater car.

basically everything is the same drivetrain wise on the 2wd's except the rear trailing arms are longer, and the springs are longer on the shock, with a lower spring plate. you can swap regular shocks in the rear and then put lowering springs on them.
Any comments on the engine swaps? I'm assuming that since the drivetrain is the same all the wiring and such is as well. I'm kinda looking foward to throwing in a ZC. Any good sites documenting the swap, or somewhere with diagrams or instructions of the wiring that has to be done? Thanks
Wow...I don't think I have even seen a 90 civic wagon with FWD...if I didn't know any better I'd say you were a damn lie...but congrats on the car. With it being 4wd....Im guessing the only engine you could put in it would be the ZC because it bolts to the tranny.....b16-b18 etc wouldn't be able to find a 4wd tranny for it. I don't really know how the 4wd works, but I'd rather see something bigger than the zc...seems like a waste of time. Im going to take alook in to these cars, 4wd would be some hot ****.

any d'series from 88 up will bolt in, just like any other 88-91 civic. if it were 4wd, you'd have to make sure the three holes ont eh back of the block were drilled and tapped for the axle stubshaft. thats it.
OK so just to be sure before I spend some money, I can use lowering springs for a regular Civic Hatchback, if I use the rear shocks off the hatchback. So are the front shocks the same for both cars. I'm wondering because I was roaming at tirerack.com and even for the front shocks it said all models except wagons. Thanks, Ryan
Sorry to seem repetitive but I just want to make sure I have this correct. The front suspension, shocks and springs, on the Wagon and the hatchback are the same, but the rear is different, the Wagon haveing a lowere spring perch and therefore a longer rear springs. So I can use aftermarket parts designed for the hatchback all around. Thanks a lot, Ryan, who hopes to have some pics of the Wagon up soon
basically the FWD wagons 88-91 are pretty much the same as their HB counterparts and CRX's as well. Suspension from any HB or CRX will fit, springs/coilovers from 88-00 Civics will fit as well. F
Front and rear shocks will work from civic.
Lowering springs or coilovers can also be used ffrom civics but you need to swap the rear shocks out with civic shocks.
I would suggest using springs with the same rates as the integra considering the weight difference.
