Getting started on building my dream car
I am in the begining stages of building a 2000 civic ex 5 speed from the ground up. (well almost) I bought the car last year hoping to be able to drop a little money into it, but ended up just using it as a commuting car. My wife cracked the head on it when a radiator hose blew out. I was wanting to put a B16A into it but I realized that I would have to change the tranny. I got another stock motor to drop in it while I rebuild another one. I am new to all of this and some of the acronyms and vins that are used are greek to me. Can someone throw out some pointers. I make 6 figures and I live in MS so I have money to spend on it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I suppose the very first question that must be asked is do you want to go NA or turbo? Of course there is the nitrous route, and there have been a couple superchargers floating around.
Second question is what are your goals and aspirations? Is this just a nice cruiser? Are you wanting maximum performance, or a blend of performance & economy? Will you be racing it?
The better you can define what you want, the easier it is to tap the vast skills, expertise, and knowledge base at your disposal.

I want to race it and fix it up for show without getting too outrageous. The stock engine is a 1.6 sohc non vtec. not very impressive. I could put a turbo on it to give it a little boost. I know there are many aftermarket parts out there to get good performance but anyway you slice the sohc non vtec is still sub par.
