95 accord lx I need help!
Can someone help me I recently purchased a 95 accord to learn to work on cars. I need to replace the Cv Axle on the driver side for now. Can someone give me a step by step to remove the old and install the new one?
Welcome to Honda-Tech. First place to look is in FAQ it is a sticky at the top of the page, if not there try the search function. If you can't find anything send me a PM with your email and i will send you the info.
I don't want to discourage you, but you need to search google for DIY CV AXLE REPLACEMENT ACCORD (and maybe CD5 at the end)
Its easy, you'll need a few hand tools and a 36mm SOCKET you can rent at an auto parts.
HOW EVER!!! I had to take my car to get the cv axles separated because some how even with a pry bar the axle would not come out the transmission case. And I've down plent of CV AXLES I have no clue how to correct that issue once it occurs.

1. Keep the car on the ground, remove your Center cap/Hub cap, unstake the axle nut; it should have a piece of the nut pushed into the notch on the axle, and either buy, borrow, or rent a 36mm 1/2" drive socket, 1/2" breaker bar, and a LONG *** pipe. About a five foot pipe should do it because Honda's are notorious for having the axle nuts stuck hard and you will need a lot of leverage.
2. Once you have the nut loose you can jack up the car, remove the wheel and start digging into knuckle.
3. Once the wheel is off remove the outer tie rod nut (and cotter pin), remove the lower ball joint nut (and cotter pin), and smack the knuckle really hard with a heavy bulky hammer. This will knock the lower ball joint (nut end) out of the lower control arm. You also need to remove the bolt from the wishbone on the strut which will allow the axle to slid out around it.
4. At this point you should be able to slide the knuckle up out of the way, use a prybar to pull the axle out of the hub and the transmission (intermediate shaft if you're doing the drivers side on a manual) and pull the axle out.
5. Then grease up the new axle on both ends and reverse the removal process using new cotter pins on both the lower ball joint and outer tie rod arms.
Hope this helps some, I just did it not a month ago when I did my 5spd conversion.
