Default Running aftermarket tapered lug nuts on OEM wheels.

So I have been trying to decide for a while whether it would be worth it to use aftermarket extended lug nuts on OEM Honda wheels, and just when I was about to decide against it, I came across this:

http://www.pacificcustoms.com/mm5/me...ct_Code=WHL005

Haven't decided on the exact brand of lugs I will be getting yet, but they will be gold extended, with my EM1 wheels.

I know this isn't exactly safe blah blah blah, but I rarely ever run my car hard, and I never do any kind of racing, just a weekend cruiser.

Does anyone have any experience using these or similar washers?

I've had aftermarket lugnuts on my Fit wheels for almost 2 years. They've never backed out, or not held torque.

I'll be going with extended studs and open end lugs soon. No scare.

I could see a tire shop loosing those right away. I was trying to find aftermarket lug nuts myself for fat fives with no such luck. I ended up going with black stock NSX lugnuts.

I work at a tire shop so I would make sure they wouldn't lose them haha, but since they're only 75 cents apiece I figured it wouldn't hurt to buy a few extras.

Do you wheels use a Tapered or Ball Seat Lug Nut? Most Honda's use a ball type. Using a the wrong type of lug nut could POSSIBLY lead to increased stress at the seat as well as increased wear in the long run. this could mean wheel failure.

But hey if it works so far, it cant be that bad

If you're using those seat adapters, I see no reason they wouldn't be just as safe as not using them as long as they're torqued down correctly, and you use an actual torque wrench to verify. Most shops just use impact drivers with torque sticks. That's OK for putting them on, but you should still use a torque wrench to verify.

Also, when you use those, put a tiny dab of oil between the nut and the seat adapter.
