Default B-series trans wont shift into reverse.

i grinded going into 3rd today for like less then a half second pulled it out and put it back into 3rd. Went in fine. When i got to a stop sign 1st would not go in at all so i took off in 2nd. when i got home i got 1st to work but realized reverse is like not there or something or it is blocked? feels like there is something there blocking reverse.

The same exact thing happened to me... Still no clue what is wrong. I pulled my trans and opened it up and everything looks perfect. Did you ever figure it out?

i just used it without reverse for a few days then i got pissed and punched my console to the right and now if i push it to the right and down with enough force it works perfect.

Im going to have it checked out soon but i believe the shifter just needs to be aligned or something.

I took mine to a shop and they said the whole thing needed to be replaced

I of course said that was bullshit since all forward gears worked perfectly fine. I still haven't figured it out, but I'm leaning towards the holder changer being the problem. With the case off I bench shifted it and all the gears engaged fine, but the changer piece wouldn't rotate all the way over to reverse. I thought it was my shifter and that wasnt the case.

I took a crap ton of pics of everything. When I get home I'll post them up for you. Maybe it can help us both figure out what's wrong

Sounds like the synchro sleeve teeth are burred over enough and contacting the hub on 2nd and 5th to prevent movement into 1st and Reverse respectively. Happens from time to time. Won't know until it gets opened up though.

When I got locked out of 3rd same way the OP did, I'm assuming it jammed these 2 together. Any thoughts?

To update you guys, it was indeed part #10 in the pic. Sadly I couldn't buy the 2 middle parts alone. I was forced to buy the full set with the synchros. No biggie really. For good measure I went ahead and bought a new reverse gear. I dropped off the trans last night to be reassembled and hoping to have it back in the car this weekend. I'll update you guys then.

They said you need a new tranny?

It was obviously a synchro problem...

Yup. I went back to the shop cuz they took out my magnet and didn't give it back with my trans when I picked it up. The dude said that it didn't come with one! Said its impossible cuz it's an aluminum casing. He's obviously full of **** and out to **** people out of money

The two parts in your hard were the sleeve and hub. Gearspeed or Synchrotech will sell you individual parts like that.

That was the first place I looked. They only sell the 1-5 synchro set sadly, and not just the sleeve and hub. It's no big deal really, it was about the same price from Honda.

What is this gear called? Mine is pretty chewed up.
I found it is called the 1st-2nd Synchro Sleeve.
