Default is this acceptable HID output?

jus wondering how this compares to OEM hid output.

i had an argument with some people on other board and was told this is completely unacceptable its a sin to have such lights in a car( very serious stuff)
according to them this was just horrible light output.

good or bad?
this is 95 integra with rebased phillips bulb and OEM ford hid ballast

both pictures the car is not perpendicular to the wall/grass so it may seem offset to the right.

Bad. Spotlight effect, bad cutoff.

This isn't a retrofit correct? It's pretty obvious it's not but it could also be a bad retrofit install.

no its not. its ebay lights that came on the car. i had to put HID in it because i couldnt even tell if the lights were on or not sometimes when driving in a city...

a retrofit would be nice. but it was expensive
i paid 250 for those hids back in the day before they even became popular.
it was kinda interesting that a FORD hid ballast was made in japan...

what you mean by spotlight effect?

First picture. The light output is very prominent in one spot and not widespread.

The Morimoto HID kit is about $300. It's not cheap but it is the cheapest best option for a retro fit. Plus, the installation is easy and the results are good.

As long as you're not blinding oncoming traffic rock what you got until something better can be had.

The ITR housings don't have HID projectors they're halogen projectors; same as USDM housings.

Hmm, I looked around a little and found some OEM JDM ITR headlights (HID). Very interesting.

As side from that, I can only imagine they aren't cheap.

A retro fit would be far cheaper.

what i meant is. to find some busted ones.

what is the difference between HID and non HID projector unit?
is it just the focal point
or the lens the reflector and the cutoff plate is also different a

the regular usdm integra light is 2 piece.
back piece holds the bulb and the reflector
front piece holds the lens and the cutoff plate i belive.

if the only difference is the lens and cutoff plate then it could be swapped to non HID headlight without the need to completely replace the projector unit.
i have the usdm headlight taken apart but dont have any busted jdm HID units.

One is designed for HID's and the other isn't.

Take your current, non-HID, projectors out and swap with real HID projectors. It's pretty simple.

Buy why? I'm not sure why you'd want to purchase JDM ITR HID projectors as mentioned when Morimoto projects are most likely cheaper but whatever.

I think Acura TL HID's would fit as well and they are suppose to be amazing.

HA! Okay. Useful info like this would be nice up front.

If its dirt cheap then yes might as well swap the projectors, otherwise the Morimoto is the next bet option.

Well, they have a right hand drive light pattern and aren't meant for US roads since we drive on the left hand side. You'll be shining light into oncoming drivers.
