Default EK Coupe Build Plans

Hi, I'm new to the forums but have been following this forum for a long time. This is my plan for a 96-00 EK Coupe. I personally don't like hatchbacks, so I would rather have a coupe. I have had a previous thread that was very sloppy and misleading. After re-reading I realized that i was an idiot so I decided to finish my plans on a gsr swap. Comments or recommendations?

Build Plans

Engine:
B18C Swap w/ LSD trans (H-Motors Online) $3000 + shipping
ARP Headstuds (Password JDM) $158.99
Skunk 2 Short Shifter $120
Run Mobile Synthetic 1 Oil
Stage 2 Clutch

Interior:
JDM EK CTR Carbon Fiber Gauge Cluster Bezel $64.99
Glowshift Tripple Gauge Pod $35.99
Buy Gauges Used (Oil Pressure, Water temp, volt or boost?)
After Market Single Din Radio $50 (used)
Door and Rear Deck Speakers $50 (used)
LED Glow Interior LED's $35.99
Overhaul interior if needed

Suspension:
Coilovers: Skunk2 Pro S II Full Coilovers 96-00 Civic $720
Rims: Meshies (used)
Tires: Goodyear G Force Sports (130 per tire)

Body:
Mugen Lip $50
Tinted Windows $100 (%35 rear windows and %50 fronts)
Alarm: Viper 5204 Responder LE 2-Way Security and Remote Start System w/ Batery backup $500 + professional install
Xenon HID (Ebay) $50
99-00 Tail Lights

Goals:
I would like to the GSR swap and drive that around for a 1-2 years before I go for boost. Will gather parts for the mean time. The stock 170 bhp a B18C puts out will do fine for the time being. I just want a good reliable car before start messing with boost.

i'd personally change a couple things, just based on personal experience

i'd just stick with a 94+ integra shift linkage + shifter, it has a dual bend which puts it in a nice position, if you want some bling, get one from an ITR, upgrade it with a set of prothane or energy suspension shifter bushings

i don't see the need for all of the gauges, if the motor is in good running condition and you do routine maintenance, you'll be fine, less cluster in the interior, less wiring, less hassle, what i would do is just add a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel filter to diagnose any issues

i'd stay away from $50 ebay HID's, most of them are DC analog kits and will fail, get a decent quality AC digital HID kit, they're much brighter and much more reliable, and are about $100/kit

Ditch the Junk2 coils and get some Tociko's or Teins depending on your budget.

Gsr swap is a big from me as i'm doing the same lol

DO NOT buy ebay HID's don't be cheap on them, be cordious to others they are ANNOYING AS **** if there knockoffs because there alignment is everywhere

Less tint, what are you trying to hide? lmfao

Gadges? are you racing this car? lmfao

Ditch all the little extras and put that towards your alarm, gps, full stealth, 2 way, detachable wheel, clutch lock, you get the point. If you can put 3-4k into your engine then you can put 3-4k into your alarm

Falken tires

Ditch the short shifter, personally i like some wiggle with my shifter. Short shifter is just asking for mis-shifts lol

Put like 10$ aside a week for a radio and speakers so MOST of your money goes towards other things then get a JVC and some quality speakers.

**** overhauling the interior just buy a whole new black(Or whatever color you like) carpet and shampoo wash the seats and old carpet until you can get some nicer interior

You are on the right track but you need to stick to ONE thing at a time. Get an alarm(FULL SYSTEM NOT SOME HALF *** ****), then move to you engine, then paint and rims, then have fun with your interior. KEEP UP WITH MAINTENANCE!

Thanks for your input. I am probably just going to stick with the dual bend linkage. My buddy seems like how his feel.

As for the gauges, I love A-Pillar gauges, just look awesome and has great functionality. I am very good with wiring and can keep them organized and tucked away, out of sight. Nothing pisses me off more than messy wiring.

And for the HID, I have heard good and bad things about them. I am going to stay away from them because I hate doing things twice.

Thank you for the suggestions

If you asked me how I felt about HID's a year ago i would have said I hate them and they should be outlawed. I have now realized there pretty cool if done right. So I'm going to stay away from eBay.

As for the headunit and speakers. I know alot of people into systems and always give me really good deals. I have a new system in my car every couple monthes...lol I can probably get all the speaker and headunit for $100.

The tint is the Wisconsin state law. I love tinted windows not only for the functionality but for the looks of it too. I might step it down to 20% all the way around..

The alarm is really important to me. I live in a small town where it is pretty low key, but i have heard horror storys and don't trust anyone. I am not afraid to spend alot of money into a alarm system.

I love A-Pillar gauges.

Anyone have suggestions for a alarm system

Trust me it will wake a ******* bear from dead sleep.

Skunk 2 short shifter is overrated. Just stick to the stock B series dual bend shifter that comes with the b18 tranny and use a weighted shift ****. The brassknuckle 530gram **** on PWJDM is amazingly comfortable for ~$60

ARP headstuds can be found cheaper, if you buy other brand name products on pwjdm youre just paying for shipping and service. Only get PWJDM products on their own site. I believe they can be found for ~$80-$120 elsewhere

Dont need to spend $35 on interior leds, get a 48panel LED for dome light and a pack of 168 bulbs on Amazon for the license plate lights and de3022 bulbs for the interior map light (integra diy mod) see my signature link of diys for the link to the integra maplight tutorial all can be had for just around $25. If you just get the bulbs and led panel then maybe $10

Id invest $800 into a koni/gc suspension system instead
And for the mugen lip if you really want it get the polyurethane replica, if youre getting a 96-98 civic get an SiR or CTR replica instead. Id rather get a 99-00 oem replica over a 99-00 mugen replica nowadays.

For the gauge cluster bezel, you really want to throw $60 toward a piece of carbon fiber? You could probably find an EX or 97-01 CRV cluster for $60 and they come with tachometers.

Uh, why would you install a boost gauge with no boost?

As far as getting ARP headstuds . Check out Lightning Motorsports. I just got my studs from them for 115 before tax. And before you do any sort of upgrade routine maintainence is always a FIRST. A 100% functional car is always in style.

And if you are really interested in overhauling the interior may I suggest dying the dash and interior plastics black like that of a CTR. And if aftermarket seats arent your style look into some the OEM seats: Del sol, Prelude (5th gen is my fav), DC teggy, or maybe some SI seats? As far as back seats go we of the EK coupe clan are limited to the SI backseats or stock because of the 60/40 split backseat. But Ive heard of people making brackets and swapping seat covers or whatever to put all kinds of OEM backseats in EK coupes. Best of luck man!

Skunk 2 Short Shifter $120
Personally I like the Skunk2 short shifter, much better than stock imo, but maybe thats just me

Coilovers: Skunk2 Pro S II Full Coilovers 96-00 Civic $720
Trash. Look into Koni yellows/Ground Control coilovers, AMR, progress (companies that actually make quality suspension). I have Koni/GC, great setup for the money

Xenon HID (Ebay) $50
Please don't put a cheap HID kit in stock headlights. Retrofit projectors with good HIDs/BiXenons or leave stock halogen bulbs in stock reflector housings.

Not tooting my own horn, but going to use my car as an example of how much better retrofits are. All cheap HIDs kits do is cause glare and spread light where it is not needed

Set-Up: Morimoto Mini H1 Bixenon Retrofit Kit from theretrofitsource.com
Headlights: OEM EK9 CTR headlights (flame away, i love it)
Projectors: Morimoto Mini H1 4.1 Bi-xenon
Ballasts: Morimoto 3Five
Bulbs: H1: XB35 4300K
Shrouds: E-55R
Also got Xpel Headlight Protection Clear Film, HIGHLY recommend it

My Car w/ retrofit:

Low Beam:

High Beam:

And there is no glare with the light output, the lights are so damn bright my iPhone can only take a close up picture clearly, headlights, shrouds, beams are clear with no glare in person

Few more Pics for Comparison:

Non-Retrofit:

Retrofit:
