Default Need help with jdm obd0 b16a swap into 00 civic ex

ok here is the deal...
just picked it up for 1500.

i just picked up a 1991 crx si with a jdm obd0 b16a. I bought the car for the motor for my 2000 civic ex. so basically i want to take the d16y8 and put it in the crx to resell and take the b16a and put it in the civic ex. My questions are
1. what will i need parts wise to put the b16 into the civic?
2. what will i need parts wise to put the d16y8 into the crx?
3. what kind of wiring am i going to need to do for the crx?
4 what kind of wiring am i going to need to do for the civic?
I work in a garage so i have the space and tools to do what i need to do.
I have swapped before but i haven't swapped obd0 to obd2
thanks for the help

sorry... i missed the part where you said you were putting it into your 2000 ex, i thought you were swapping engines. I believe this would be the correct forum then...
as far as parts go, searching will help you a lot. One of the sticky's at the top of this forum is a wiring guide, which should help you with the wiring for the B16

Golf clap for searching.

Some of the small details depend on how the swap was done in the CRX.

The CRX uses a cable actuated cluctch unless converted to hydraulic. Your civic if manual is hydraulic. They make conversions or get hydraulic B trans. You can reuse the axels. Shift linkage can also come from a 99-00 Civic SI.

OBD0 vs OBD1 & 2 fuel injectors = high impedence vs low impedence. They can be swaped from your B to D.

OBD0 & 1 have the crankshaft fluctuation sensor (CKF) in the distributor, OBD2A & B have it mouted to the oil pump. If you use the 99-00 ecu you'll need to deal with this. Replace the oil pump with sensor or search CKF bypass although the bypass is hit and miss for some.

Other than some connector style differences and locations for the various sensors which can be swaped that's all I got off the top of my head.

Altenator is different. Power steering and A/C mounting are different.

In all seriousness it would have been easier and cheaper to have just bought an OBD1 or OBD2 B16A swap and just sold the Y8 swap.

Well i have decided just to sell the shell of the crx and the y8 separate
i know i can sell the shell for at least 500 which gives me the money i need for the parts to put the b16 in my car.. Plus i have the y8 still to sell.
i also am trading the cable tranny for a ls trans.. so i think money wise it will still be cheaper than buying a full swap(correct me if i am wrong)

For what you paid I'd keep it as is and rock it. I can't tell from one side pic the quality of the swap, undercarage/suspension, body or interior but it looks clean. Desirable body style and trim.

ckf bypass. obd2 accessories, use em1 linkage NOT dc, em1 ecu, use your ex harness, axles can be em1 or dc, blahblahblah. been done, not worth the extra work. sell the crx for more, sell the y8, buy b16a2= win.

Shop around and you're still probably further ahead to sell the rex and buy a complete swap that actually drops in. I've seen good used B16A swaps with hydro trans, axles, shift linkage etc for $1000.

there was recently a full obd1 swap on here for 900. i hate getting off topic in these threads, but the obd0 b16 is rated as less hp than 1 or 2. if you have a clean b16 swapped crx, and a clean civic ex, why not sell both and go em1? they dont sell for nearly as much as they used to, many to be had for 4500 or less. swapping this motor in your ex will be a headache, same with the y8 into the rex, being as you do not have the proper linkage, trans, mounts, or axles for either. your idea was ok conceptually and would have been a cash saver about 10 years ago, but nowadays b series stuff is very cheap.

Also, a B16A with an LS trans just flat out sucks. Prepare to be monumentally underwhelmed.

This is an OBD1 B16A from a pretty decent importer. $2200. Between the CRX and the Y8 swap you should roughly break even, but you'll be a lot further ahead in terms of what you get out of it.
