ZC/D16 Head info
guys, sorry if im not up to par with the current builds you guys may have on your hondas.
i relocated to the Philippines. basically here for racing 200hp is alot of power.
with that out of the way i do hope you guys can please not mention, go nos, or go turbo, or go B series.
so i just acquired a 94 honda hatchback (my first honda)
has a zc16 block
the Head i went ahead and looked through the forum and got the head code, the only problem is that
the headcode comes out P2J-7 on the right side 95.
while lookin up headcodes the only head with a 95 stamp on the side is the 95 EX d16y8 AUTO.
but the only stamp that has P2J-7 is the 96 d16y8 auto. so im slightly lost.
also on the right side (where the camgear is placed) it has a stamp of P08.
Basically whats happening is im trying to learn and build my own all motor engine, with the lack of parts that we have here.
What does "auto" mean in d16y8 Auto?
also what is your guys opinion on a Double D clutch, 212mm flywheel (stock from ESI)
as of now im looking into camgears springs retainers and pistons, but its hard as hell to find.
guys please keep in mind, that this isnt for legal racing. basically all of the drivers from our city come to 1 spot on a saturday night, (no not actually illegal) we have a little drag strip that isnt public roads, kind of like a paved road in the middle of nothing. fastest ride we get to watch is about 240hp.
and on a side note, the average salary here is about $500 a month. so lets not get outrageous

also to add to that information,
my head thats stamped p2J-7 (then on the right side) 95
is a 3 stage vtec. and i have the right ECU for it. P2J-J62.
and its 20 camlobes
almost everyone i know here says the 3 stage vtec is a disadvantage.
though i kind of dont see why or how?
if the first vtec kicks in at 2k+ rpm (dont know the exact)
and second vtec at 5,500rpm. then how does a 3 stage vtec affect me if i launch at 5,500rpm and never drop below Vtec?
also it would still be better to just get a rechipped ecu and have it street tuned right? i would still be able to use both vtecs?

You can't get the three stage P2J tuned - the ECU itself is OBD2A, which is not tuneable, and an OBD1 ECU swap would be incapable of controlling both vtec solenoids. Also, if you launch at 5500, you're going to sit there spinning one tire.
If you want to go fast, go turbo. I know you said don't even mention it, but to even think you're going to get 200 to the wheels without a snail is flat out ignorant, borderlining on stupid. If you want to go fast for cheap, and be reliable, a turbo is the only way to go. Accept it.

i had a long message typed out, but will just say thanks for the lack of info.
and there are a couple of 3 stages here that are already ecu tuned.
i can afford turbo, hands down that isnt a problem at all. but i dont want power for when im cruising through the city.
now lets say i were to race a fully built n/a, who refuses to declare whats actually in his engine, and i have this bulky turbo sticking out, on a completely stock engine, whats he going to ask for. +5? +7? by the time i can fully use the turbo he would have already crossed the finish line.
i kinda figured it would be a waste of time looking for info outside of the PH forums.
thanks though.
oh and ive always heard from the best drag shops here that do legal, is launching depends on your tires, the road, and your car. no 2 are the same.
