Anyone know James personally or have his phone number? God knows he could be stuck in a cave somewhere. I miss the newbie shaver.

That would be my logical first step before calling him.

I know I would be kinda freaked out if someone from H-T just called me up and didnt email me first. Especially since it sounds like you need something from him. Also, I know I wouldnt just give out James' phone number if I knew him, unless I knew you too. Just my $.02

I dont like auto Supras either. They suck.

Happy?

Ive told Knightsport (the only auto Supra owner on HT i think) that before plenty of times.

Thing is, the features that make a manual that much better at the strip, are neglected by the amount of power the supra has. It can launch well by just putting the gas pedal down and its very consistant. Anyone know if those supras have good top end or you have to short shift them?

Nope, auto supras are faster than 6spd supras for drag racing.

For example. My friends supra dynoed at 675whp it ran a 11.52 @ 13x
Another supra ran a 10.3 @ 1xx w/ 525whp.

The 10sec supra was an auto, the 11sec one is a 6spd.

Reason being an auto supra puts down torque very cleanly i guess is the best way to describe it, compared to a 6spd. An auto supra can launch at full boost and it won't have any traction problems where as a 6spd will have traction problems.

...and about top end my friend revs his supra to 9k+ rpms when he is racing. But he has cams, and upgraded valve train. All my other friends w/ BPU supras and what not don't short shift though.

An auto anything is better for drag racing when you start talking about enormous HP numbers. Consistency.

If thats all the concern is about is the best possible ETs then an auto Supra would be a better choice. But in a street car where you arent getting paid to drag race and you encounter a turn or two an manual is just more fun. Its a better total package IMO. Shifting for yourself is what driving a car is all about, Im sure you know what Im talking about Steve.

I know what you are talking about Nick. Thats the exact thing i told my friend w/ the Supra. Something in his tranny/clutch let go this past weekend. He is seriously thinking of swapping to a manual. But I just got him into autox and he LOVES it. So i told him an auto wouldn't be beneficial at all for autox, or when you start doing HPDEs w/ me. I just posted about the auto before, to show that the auto supra is faster for drag racing.

I thought he did. I know he's using a tranny from an SiR or something exotic like that. Even so, how is that stock auto handling a 75 shot?

yeah its from the accord Si
he talked to the guys at pacifc enginering or something like that. they pullled the f22, Si, and h22 tranny... the Si he said would shift a bit quicker but still have the longer gears of the f22. "best of both worlds" well best for around 750 bucks

maybe a tranny cooler. 75 is possible though
