Default Stripping headlights on an EG?

I have an EG race car, and wanted to take out the headlights and replace them with covers, to save a bit of weight. However, I then found that it is possible to take the lights out, and completely strip everything out of them, and just have the plastic left. So my questions: Is this possible? And if so, would someone be able to tell me the best way to go about it, or if you have had any experience doing it before?

Thanks!

I've never delt with the plastic covers but the way you access everything in the headlight casing pit it in the oven to melt the sealant then open it up and remove all the guts.

Not sure with EG's, but to take apart 96-00/6thgen/EK headlights you put them in the oven to get the adhesive warm and loose enough to take the plastic cover off.

I'm guessing it'll be the same with an EG then. How warm is the oven, and how long do you leave it in there for?

Preheat the oven to 350, then turn it off once it gets to temp. Put the headlight(do em one at a time) on a baking sheet and throw em in for about 5-10 minutes. I did this trick when I blacked out my civic headlights. Do the same when you put it back together. Just press them together, throw in oven and push them together when you pull it out and hold them with something till the glue resets.

Made a set of these out of ABS, using a vacuum former I constructed myself.

You first have to make a mold using your old lights and basically make the light into a pyramid shape with expandable foam.

The attachment points are also part of the mold and once you pull the heated plastic and its cooled you can use some good paramedic scissors and cut the shape.
Bolt it on and maybe a zip tie or two if you are super ****.
Mine have lasted me two season on track
