has anyone installed an oil cooler ?
The reason im looking in to it is because i live in the desert. i have gone through 2 head gaskets and i want to try to do what i can to keep my engine as cool as i can so i dont stress my engine or go through another head gasket.

As for an oil cooler, it can be done... but I do not know how to plumb one on a D17.
thanks.. i have also been looking in to an aftermarket radiator. do you like the full size radiators or the smaller ones better? As for putting the oil cooler on isnt a problem. They do have some cool kits that are very easy to install. I was only wondering who has done it and how they like it. Maybe the radiator and all you listed will do the job.

here is a link to a kit simillar to all the ones i have seen for it. very easy to install.

i dont think an oil cooler is going to help with your headgasket issues. you have other problems you need to address.
before you say anything, i lived in the desert for 4 years where temps regularly saw 120+ and my car never overheated with the stock cooling system.

No I know the oil temp has nothing to do with the head gasket. I just wanted to do what I could to lower temps in the motor. But you're right thanks.
Head to the forced induction section and the Track/roadrace section. There are about 2 threads already done on oil cooler setups and what to put together. Its better than that kit that w as linked above, that's for sure.
Great. Thanks for the heads up. I'll check it out.
