Aftermarket Heated Seats with OEM Switches
Hello, everyone! This is my very first post here; my name is Mike, and I have a '97 Accord SE Coupe. I haven't done much to it, since it's been in really great shape ever since I bought it.
My current project, though, is heated seats. Always wanted them, finally going to make them happen. I've never been much for aftermarket stuff if I can stay with the stock stuff, and I found the OEM switches from a 99 CL and already have those. However, there aren't any CLs anywhere nearby me that I can go part out the rest of the materials from (such as the clips, fuse relays, option connectors, 3 relays, and then the actual heaters themselves).
I refuse to give up on my dream of heated seats, but I reeeeally don't want to spend a bunch of money on this. Would it be silly to get a pair of aftermarket heated seats and then try to wire them into car (especially since they'd need to be on the accessory wiring so I don't accidentally kill the battery) and then try to connect them to the OEM switches so it all looks right?
...or is that even possible?
Any and all help is appreciated. I've read through James Matteau's tutorial on it many times.

You can purchase aftermarket heating elements and then wire them up to the OEM switches. Quite a few S2000 guys have done this. Take apart your OEM seat and then add the heat pads then run the wiring.
Pretty simple process.

Is the OEM switch strictly an on/off? Or is it a high/low/off type of switch?
I would imagine that as long as the switch that comes with the aftermarket heating elements matches the type of switch that the OEM one is then you shouldn't have a problem swapping the switches.
On a side note, I had a SVT Contour and I put a set of aftermarket heating elements into my front seats and they worked great, I had them in the car for 4 years before selling it.
