Best year for S2000?
I have been looking for a yellow/blk int S2000 for about a while. What's the best year to buy and how do I know if it's priced right? Dealer's prices are about $3000 more than the Edmunds.com value.
brosif theres a whole thread dedicated to describing and listing the differences of all the years. if a noob is too stupid to search and realize theres no best s2k its about personal preference then he will get trolled.
my personal favorite is the 00-01 but most consider this one of the worst years to buy.

No, I agree with you @ Black S2K...I was stating that there's an array of these silly threads about a whole bunch of nothing. I remember coming into HT expecting to learn something new or interesting. Now it's filled with these kind of threads that a simple search can yield an answer.
you gotta go to s2ki for that...i look at honda-tech as a purely entertainment forum to be honest...theres too many morons on this forum for it to be helpful except to pass the time and get a good laugh once in awhile

I agree. If you want more torque and daily drivability, from what I understand is the AP2 (2004-2009) is more appropriate, but you only get an 8k redline.

- Edmund's is just a guide, if you want the car bad enough you will pay the price. I have owned a couple of Honda's that I "paid way to much" for. There are a lot of S2000's in great condition, mainly because they one's second car.
-As far as what year is the best goes, do your research.
-I understand the trolling comments. Majority of the posts have already be covered. Annoying ones such as "should I" or "what can I do" cause frustration to some.
-Me personally: I would buy a one owner, clean title, all original (body panels, glass, radio, etc), all records, etc.

it's all subjective. 00-03 have the 9k redline and a 2.0 which i personally prefer. I would go for a 02-03 myself because then you get the 2.0 with the glass rear window. 04+ have some nice styling cues (which you'll pay for in price difference), but bumpers, lights, center console and door panels are easy to change.
personally (now) i have an 00, with a full ap2 cosmetic conversion and a glass window top. i've owned both the 2.0 and 2.2 engine s2ks, i prefer the 00-03 engine with the 9k redline to the 2.2

and yes, you'll find that these cars are listed above kbb and edmunds, and they get it too. they are getting a little rare, and you'll still pay a premium for one, especially one week before race wars
