I like the look of the engine without the camshaft belt cover. My car is a 1995 Honda Civic EX with the D16Z6. If you don't know what that engine is, its the SOHC VTEC 1.6 putting 125 ponies to the ground. I looked at it, but it appears it may be a little difficult to get to in some places. Has anyone taken their's off? What should I look out for? What should I know before doing this?

you will lose your timing marks if you do that. you will also risk getting debris in the gears and damaging them.
