Default 2inch straight its good...pics

Hello.

i wanted to know if i could put a 2.5 inch header with oem cat(its nocat but the same "input") on a eg6.

I have a lightweight and a straight exhaust (nocat, no resonator, but all in 2")

I think that 2,5 full exhaust will not benefit with stock b16, its may better 2inch with no restrictions

Thank u

What is this? I don't even.

There's so much wrong here.

Every engine benfits from a 3" exhaust even, so even a 2.5" will be better than stock or 2" on any engine.

What is a "2.5" header" anyway? And if I were you I'd get a vibrant catalytic converter. Good quality and very affordable.

Even the lowly B16 will benefit from going to a 2 1/2" from a 2" exhaust.

That exhaust looks like garbage anyway. I'd start over.

3" for a stock b16???

2,5" could work well, but 3" i think that is so much...(stock motor)

I see a lot of dynos of oem exhaust with cat and resonators, and the comparison of the 2,5" exhaust but this is different from oem i think...

2.5" is normal. And 3" is not too much. Your gains will be minimal, but they will be there. You'll also gain a lot of noise. I'm not saying you should get 3", I'm just stating a fact that everyone makes more power with 3", period.

What's different from OEM? There's nothing OEM about the exhaust you pictured. It looks like garbage.

The gain of 40dB of ***-grinding noise is not worth the 3hp gain. The only time you should have a stright through exhaust is for a pure track car you make money with.

Get 2.5" piping, toss on *some* sort of resonator and a "turbo" muffler that isn't striaght-thru. It will sound better and make some more power than what you have. Your EAR DYNO might think it's lost 90whp, but I can assure you it hasn't.

Which is why I always give the 3" exhaust the caveat of noise You'll notice my H2B has a 2.5" exhaust for that very reason.

Once my car becomes a trailer/track queen I'm looking forward to hearing a 3" exhaust with a resonator and 3" dynomax super turbo. Should sound good i think

what do you think? oem internals, oem header, oem intake.

I know it is slow compared with all motor, but is my daily/track/all-use car In summer i want to put a turbo with low psi, 200-220 hp with oem internals.

You should probably learn more about turbos before you say "low psi and X hp goals." Depending on how/when you want your boost to build will vary the PSI the turbo needs for your power goals, all of which are dependent on the engine and it's ability to take in air.

Slow compared to all motor? It is all motor if it doesn't have a turbo or super charger.

Sorry but I had to use a meme to describe this post.

Now, to address your issue. Please do a little more research. There is a wealth of information on this forum
that you could hopefully use before you seriously damage your car.

To answer your question, the stock cat will most likely not match up to a 2.5" collector on your header.
Also, just like someone else said on here, even a lowly B16 can benefit from a full 2.5 exhaust. Good luck man and welcome to H-T.

imo... that piping is fine for a stock b16. are we trying to win formula1 here? I used a 2.5 with that kind of muffler on a b16 one time. it was sooo loud and very annoying. switched to 2 inch with an itr muffler. World of a difference in feel and sound, like way better. I didnt notice any difference in power, and whatever there may have been was definitely minimal. Lap times at my local track actually improved, probably because I got better at driving through that time.

One thing to keep in mind as far as sound goes, is that the muffler and resonator are more important than pipe size. Chambered mufflers, big or small cancel alot more noise than straight ones, and cats help too. But anyways, for a street civic, with a 1.6 motor... There is no need to get your girl real pissed.

Thats because restrictions dont make as much noise. I try and use a resonator with larger perforated core and steel wool or stainless packing. The fiberglass is junk and will corrode over time. I use 3" with my turbo'd B20 and was only loud at WOT. No droning. Im curious to see how loud my new NA engine will be.

Piping kits can be bought for cheap here
