ok so i have a 1986 crx si , replaced intakes gaskets had a major vacuum leak . now car idles at around 2300 rpm and seems to start climbing until the temp gauge is about half then rpms go from about 1200 to 1800 . i know thats usually i sign of a bad iac valve but i read some where you can just unhook it and run with out is this true and how do you get it to idle right after words. any other ideas of what could cause the idle issues

Clean it or replace it. You cant run without it.
