Default Question on ECU swap. Which do I need for my 01 lude? P72? Other?

I have a 2001 5 speed manual Prelude(non-SH). When I go to Hondata, it states that I need to get an OBD2-OBD1 adaptor. And then get a suitable ECU.

It also states that I need the P72 if I want to keep the function of the secondary intake runners I believe.

On ebay I see alot of GSR OBD2 ECU's, is this what Im looking for or are there different P72 ecu's??? Someone with knowledge on what I would probably want please help me out here. I already know I need an adaptor. What do I need for an ECU, why do I need it, and where do I get it??

thanx folks!

OBD1 GS-R P72 is for years 1994-1995 only.

You need it becuase it is the computer that will run your car. Prelude ecus are very difficult to reprogram, so Hondata uses GS-R ones. P72 is the ecu code. Prelude is P5P 97-01, P13 93-96

Okay for one you need to do more research:

http://www.hondata.com is a good place to start.

This is a OBD1 GS-R ecu. It has a code of p72. The OBDII ones are P62 so I don't know what the hell those people are selling on ebay if they say OBDII P72 there's no such thing.

It will work on your car but you need an adapter harness because OBDI and II plugs are different. these plugs:

Okay, I understand that.

1. I know I need an OBDII to I adaptor.

2. SO the P72 OBDI ECU is actually from a GSR and is the ECU that will help make hp in my 01 prelude??

3. Besides the $200 for the harness and money for the ECU are there any other charges??

4. What kind of gains can I expect?? WIll I lose any control or any functions whatsoever??

thanx

2. OBDI P72 is the ecu you need if you want Hondata to reprogram it. And yes it will make power

3. Yeah you have to pay for the Hondata box, and the tuning costs. You can't just run a p72 straight up you will be running to lean I would think

4 If you use a P72 you'll keep everything, Hondata users could give you an idea of gains
