Default FS: 1998 Honda Civic EX Coupe - $2000 o.b.o

*********************SOLD************************

Thanks OLDDOHC

Hello HT,

I have my 1998 Honda Civic EX Coupe for sale, located in San Diego. The car is in pretty rough condition mechanically; currently has a blown head gasket from what I can tell but that is still not officially confirmed. The car blows smoke and overheats when running so there is something going on that I do not have the time nor desire to repair. The car will be sold as is and will be registered as non-op because smog is past due and it won't smog in its current condition. I have owned the car for exactly nine years; bought the car in January of 2004 and put around 110k miles on it since then. The car in total has just over 183k miles on it and is in ok condition overall. I am asking 2000 o.b.o so please shoot me offers...starting higher because I know HT seems to be full of major lowballers these days. I have listed all that is wrong with the car below.

Good:
Clean Title
Interior is in decent shape, could use floor mats and a new driver side door panel (cracked arm rest).
CTR Shift Boot
OEM Mudflaps
Spoon Shift ***
SI Shocks/Springs
99-00 Tails
New Cap, Rotor, Plugs, Wires, Thermostat, Air Filter, Oil Change and coolant flush.
Pretty straight body overall except for a dent in the driver side door...I call it my bum kick dent...funny story, trust me.

Bad:
Cracked windshield
Axles are bad, boots are torn
Motor obviously...most likely a head gasket...but that is for you to find out.
Ran water through the engine for a year or so...erosion damage to multiple cooling parts.
Paint could use some TLC...scratches and a little oxidation.
Tires are done
Muffler needs to be welded to piping...muffler rattles off and then comes the noise!!
Both window regulators or motors...or both. Windows roll up and down but get stuck in certain places...could be the tracks too...I dont know and that is something you can figure out.

I think that is about it. I will actually really miss the car and it overall was very good to me...but I was less nice to it. Life took over and the car took a backseat to my other priorities and that neglect led to its ultimate demise over time. I have a new car already so I am not in a huge rush to sell...but I don't want to sit on it forever either. My next stop is Craigslist but that is my last case scenario if HT doesn't work. Thanks for looking and please throw out some offers...but don't insult me with a $500 offer because it only makes you look stupid.

Thanks for the vouch Noah. Yep, had to post one last photo from when the car was actually "built" just to show that it most definitely can be brought back to life...haha.

This is the same motor but it was actually just bad spark plugs...changed plugs and everything was fine. The oil was not as low as I thought...the car does leak oil but I believe it is an oil pan gasket.

I have always felt that way since the suspension is for an SI...not sure if an SI is much heavier than an EX but I figure the spring rates are which may cause the slight difference in height from stock EX suspension...but that is just an "educated" guess.

I do not have the 98 hubcaps but do have a set of the 96/97 hubcaps. I sold my stock wheels with those hubs like 8 years ago. I currently have 15" stocks that are ****. I would look on here for someone selling 14" stocks with nice tires...you can usually find them for around $100.

I added some more photos above; these photos include the "Bum Dent" on the driver door as well as my hood issues...yes, that is an 01 scratched into the hood. I have yet to wax the hood to see if that will come off...I know, my bad.

Here is what I am up against on CL:

$1300 for a pile
http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/3531317490.html

$900 for another pile
http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/3534844988.html

$900 for a non-rolling shell
http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/3521574370.html

$1500 for rolling chassis Integra
http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/3474345583.html

$1500 for Salvage Shell
http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/3472238966.html

$3000 for Clean SI Shell
http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/3522366806.html

Again, my paint may need some help but it is a clean title, fully complete rolling chassis with motor that is repairable.

To get any amount of cash to take away a pile of crap is a bonus for those guys.
Again, I am happy with what we agreed on...just showing a comparison to what kind of other bullshit is out there around the same price.
