My name is Greg Ziraldo. I have been building Hondas since my early High School days (1996-ish). I had a build thread on NWP, but since that got shut down I guess I am going to start fresh here. This is build/restoration/maintenance of my 1991 Honda Civic DX. This will never be tracked, raced, meant to go over 65, etc. I am from Los Angeles, but now my wife, son and I live in Denver. Enjoy!
Huge thanks to:
My wife Jamie and son Asher
Mario and Chris (Akebono USDM)- thanks for all the advice!
All the SSR heads who have helped me out!

Good to see you made it over here Greg. I always like the beginning pics. It helps get a real feel for how much love goes into a build. Sad about NWP, I had a lot of old posts I liked to follow.
I've voiced all my admiration and support for this build in person, but I'll put it here too.
Your car is a work of art, man. Keep up the good work!
Can't wait till show/meet season starts again so I can see your fresh EX-Cs in the flesh....

Its funny that i stumbled upon this tonight, I literally just went on NWP to catch up on build threads and now you say it got shut down. Glad you're documenting your progress on here, at least!

Started picking stuff up after that...
Went from a Personal Neo Grinta 350mm...
To a Nardi Classic 360mm...hated it.

So I sold it and sourced a mint Mugen SW3 steering wheel. These were made by MOMO in 1990. Best wheel I have ever had, bar none.

Ordered gold titanium hub hardware from Baller Bolts...

Mounted on the QR abd gave the leather a rub-down with some leather cleaner/conditioner. Leather is super soft and looks/feels brand new.

Then I sold my Circuit Hero extender (didn't care for) and Razo ****. I found a seller in Japan with a BNIB Mugen 1st Gen shift ****. The black and silver ones are still sold today, but the gold, red and blue have been discontinued for years.

I miss my old SW3. Such a good looking and great feeling wheel. Those new plush moldings make such a difference. This car right here is a trend setter.
Still cant believe how mint those seats are. I got lucky with my si ones which are the same condition, however these microfiber style ones almost never held up as long as the si which make them that much more rare to find mint.
Wheels look awesome man. Love the SSR Ex-c Fins. Is that original paint on there because it looks mint? I was worried when you said you wouldn't drive it over 65 or race it but I am happy to hear that you will show the car. A nice car like this has to be shown one day if you don't race it haha.

Yeah Travis, I agree about the seats. I think the same can be said about your 89 Si...museum quality. Way better than any 90-91 Si period. I ALMOST sold all my aftermarket stuff just since you inspired me with all the awesome OEM stuff you pick up!
@BC- Yeah, the paint is 100% original, but no it is not perfect. There are dings and scratches on the finish in a few places. It is in excellent shape for its age, i'll give it that.
Got the faces re-chromed...
http://www.flickr.com/photos/gregthebass/6290745218/
These SSR's are the first of now many sets I have restored and rebuilt personally.

On the car...

Keep in mind to those reading this... these are pics from a couple years ago...this is not the current state of the car. I am just starting my thread over since I lost 30+ pages of my build on NWP.

Looking good. Didn't realize how clean your car was. I've only seen partial pic's in the SSR thread.
I can't wait to mount my Spinner Mesh. I hope my wheels turn out as clean.

Wish they would have told everyone this was coming so info. could have been salvaged.
Love an old ED thread!
I think i read your thread on NWP a while back, but keep up the good work!
Oh, and nice to see a Swedish flag in the garage

@Russ...Yeah kinda weird how that all went down. And they seem to just dodge the whole problem on their FB page...I wonder if some other BS happened too.
@Raseri...Gota represent the homeland. I have a lot of family from Norge/Sverige.

I would like to do a full restoration. Only problem is that find a decent shop locally is next to impossible.
89lowlude just do the work yourself. Aside from Body and paint I would say the more work you do yourself, the better the car will be. Most shops won't put the same attention to detail as an owner.
Hey Greg I just noticed your drivers side seat foam could use a freshing up. You should track down a passenger side from an 88-89 in any color and swap out the foam like I did for my 89" si
https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/1989-civic-si-seat-restore-project-2904682/
the RH foam for the 88-89 hb is the same part number as the LH 90-91. This is perfect since the passenger side seats get almost no wear. It's very easy to do if you just take your time disassembling the spare seat to see how to swap the recliner and remove the fabric. You will be very pleased with the finished result.
