Default What to look for when buying a CRX?

Hey HT, I currently drive a 95 integra with a B18C with tranny, and I'm shortly going to be on the hunt for my first CRX! I have a general idea of what to look for as for wheel well rust and such like that but I'm not 100% on what else to check for.

I'm just looking for some advice on what to check for, for a solid CRX body.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to swap my typeR into the CRX as well so engine wise isn't too much of a biggie.

Any suggesting/tips?

Look for the usual stuff when buying a car, check brakes, wheels, fluids have been kept up with.
Now for a CRX make sure the interior is in good shape, interior pieces for a crx are hellaciously expensive, I.e. $100 (at least) for a new climate control
Make sure to get an Si, it's a bit easier to start with mpfi and go right into a swap

ya they arent. at all i drove like 10 hours round trip for doors for mine. when buying one i agree with red rocket. look at interior. and also for little bonuses that you may not want that other people pay lots of money for. crx floor mats and mudflaps both can be over 100. and if you dont want them in then thats extra money to the swap. also if it is an si, check to see if the moon roof leaks. also the roofs leak on some (the body sealer under the roof trim cracks) just look where the spare tire is for rust since the water will normally drain to there. also if your swapping it. find one with stock exhaust. the cat is worth a good deal as scrap because of the platinum in it. and thats another like 75-100 to the swap. also i would look for one with a rear disk swap. its just nice to have. also i would stay away from anything with those stupid *** clear tail lights. normally ment the kid you get it from thought he was a speed racer and beat the **** out of it. just my opinion on the last one though ha

Geez America sucks with parts lol I picked up two mint headlights and 2 dash vents for 60..
Air con units are about 30-40 from wreckers

But on the subject, check for rust on the hatch. Where the bonnet latches bolt to chassis and under the plastic cover at bottom of the windscreen

2nd gen crx 88-91, not like an integra with 94-01, and being as it is a 2 seater it never sold as widely. thats life.

Rust around rear 1/4 panel/wheel arch, along bottom of doors, and under the trunk carpet.

The more stock and complete, the better.
Interior AND exterior parts are drying up.

What is your price range for the crx? Rust will be a big issue up north. If I had to do it again, it would be HF (still mpfi) or a DX. The Si sunroof sucks, you lose head room, it's heavy, and parts are discontinued.

You just got to really look for the best quaality you can get for the $ value your willing to spend. I found a 90 CRX with 120k for 1500.00 .. was good price.... not si...didnt wanna mess with sunroof later.. Only thing was needed alignment and and a kill switch. Rust spots and leaks are what i watched for... Like everyone else said... anything the was crx part check cause it can be some $$ to replace ****!
