Default Common tranny problems

Im about to buy a 5 speed trans from a prelude for my manual swap in my 97 accord. And I was just wondering how reliable these trannys are? I've read that the shift forks are a common problem. Has anyone had any problems out of these?

its very nearly the same transmission as the accord one. the external cases are the same part number, but the gear stacks are what is different.

So it won't have any trouble bolting up? I know the 90-93 accord transmissions have different mounting holes than the 94-97 accords.

What year is your accord? As stated the transmissions are all the same with different gears. You will also need the correct transmission 5 speed bracket for the conversion.

The 5th gear fork was a problem on numerous transmission models through '99 (there was a TSB for it), so I would replace that at a minimum. While the transmission's out you should replace the syncro's if you weren't already planning on it.

that is only the 90-91 accords. the 92-97 use the same case half, you just have to tap out the extra bosses on the case. the 90-91 does not even have them at all to tap out.
