Post New EF Project

Hi i just purchased this little guy, which I have non-officially dubbed Sir Hatch-A-Lot. It was built by a shop out here in Eastern NC called East Coast Performance as a AutoX machine, and then sold to another person before I bought it. From what I have heard it had another motor in it before it was sold. I may have let enthusiasm rush the buying process a bit but I am still pretty happy with it. It has been completely built but not to my standards.

My is goal to make the car a little cleaner/more stock, and maybe de-tune it a bit to make it a bit more DD worthy. I will show some I pics I took tonight and ask my questions then.

Custom Intake with weird connector

And carpet that I pulled out of Junkyard Donor, no amount of cleaning will get this looking good, but better than terrible aftermarket torn up one that was in there before.

So there is what I got. My first question is did I overpay for 2300? The odo reads 126k but I think that must be wrong or rolled back. I figured the parts that went into this have to be worth 3k-4k.

Second, the intake pipe has a weird clamp I have never seen before and I cannot figure out how to mount it into the TB. Do I just need a bolt/nut/washers to pull that wire closed, I cannot see how that will tighten anything and get that pipe to hold itself to the TB, any suggestions would be appreciated. The previous owners had the intake floating in the engine bay.

Third, I know the car leaks from the rear hatch, and somewhere in the front. But in those floorpan pictures you can see holes leading straight through the car and also a large pool of water collected under driver seat area/footwell. Is that water just leftover from my leaks or is it coming from those holes in the floorpan. Do I need to patch those holes or do I need to just fix the leaks in the body. I wanted to throw the new carpet in today but when I saw what was underneath, I hesitated because I am not sure If I need to fix those holes or clean up the floorpan and paint.

Anyway I hope you liked the pics, and I would appreciate any thoughts.

Looks like a great project car. My wiring in my car looks the same at the conversion harness. I guess people think it's out of site so it doesnt matter. I don't think the water will make it from the rear of the car to the front. I would patch the holes before you put the carpet down regardless. Good luck.

to put the intake on, squeeze the clamp and slide it onto the throttle body and release. that's a queer way of doing that. now, did you overpay, IMO, yes. Should have tried to talk them down to under $2000...somewhere like $1700-$1800
